Report: DeJuan Jones Attracting European Interest Once Again
The Revolution left-back is once again gaining interest from Belgium and Germany ahead of their transfer window closures.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle, New England Revolution and United States defender DeJuan Jones is again attracting European interest.
Carlisle reported Saturday evening that multiple European clubs have their eye on the 26-year-old defender as transfer windows close over the next month.
Among the teams interested in Jones includes Belgian Pro League side Standard Liege and Bundesliga sides FC Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart. This is not the first time Stuttgart have had their eye on the Revs defender. The German club explored acquiring Jones last summer, but failed to get a deal over the line.
According to Carlisle, Jones’ contract with the Revolution runs out upon the conclusion of the 2025 MLS season.
Since joining New England after the Revolution selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, Jones has appeared in 133 matches across all competitions, where he’s notched six goals and 13 assists over 10.519 minutes.
Jones has also seen his international stock rise as the Lansing, Michigan native has six caps with the USMNT. Most recently, Jones featured in the United States run to the semifinal of the Gold Cup.
The Bundesliga transfer window closes on September 1st, while Belgium’s window closes on September 6th.
My wife says he should go to Stuttgart because they have better Christmas markets.
I’m guessing it would take an impressive offer for revs to sell given the revs’ defensive situation and where he is in his contract. Maybe a purchase and loan back to the revs is possible, but I’m not too worried.
