Sources: Boston Legacy Exploring Additional Options for 2026 Home Games
Locations in Hartford CT and Pawtucket RI are reportedly under consideration to host select home games for the NWSL club
It has emerged that Boston Legacy FC, who will make their debut in the NWSL in 2026, are exploring the possibility of playing at least some of their home games at venues around New England sources told The Blazing Musket.
While the club will ultimately make their home at a renovated White Stadium in Franklin Park, they will play the majority of their home games in 2026 at Gillette Stadium. However, it appears they have made contact with two USL Championship clubs as they examine of the option of playing select home games elsewhere, with Trinity Health Stadium in Hartford, CT and Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, RI among the candidates, according to sources.
Trinity Health Stadium — long known as Dillon Stadium — was originally built in 1935 and underwent about $15 million in renovations in order to host Hartford Athletic of the USL Championship. Major renovations to the stadium — which has a capacity of 5500 — were completed in 2019 and incremental improvements have been undertaken in subsequent years.
In addition to the men’s team that plays in the Championship, Trinity Health Stadium is also the home of Hartford City of the NPSL, and hosted both UConn men’s and women’s soccer teams in 2019. From 2026, the stadium will also be the home of Hartford Athletic’s women’s team, which will play in the USL W League.
Centreville Bank Stadium is the newest purpose-built stadium in the USL Championship, and the home of Rhode Island FC. Completed in 2025 at a cost of approximately $150 million, the stadium has a capacity of 10,500 and is part of the planned-but-still-incomplete Tidewater Landing multiuse development on the Seekonk River. In addition to RIFC, the stadium hosted the Boston Banshees of Women’s Elite Rugby for the final three home games of the 2025 season.
It’s unclear at this time how many home games Boston Legacy might play outside of Gillette Stadium, but it’s believed that the need for an alternate venue stems in part from questions surrounding the availability of their primary home on certain dates.
At time of publication, Boston Legacy FC has not responded to a request for comment.
The Blazing Musket will continue to have coverage as this story develops.
