Olger Escobar Called Up to Guatemala National Team
Escobar will look to add another international cap to his resume when Guatemala squares off against Uruguay!
Olger Escobar learned he was returning to the international stage on Wednesday when he was one of 21 players selected to represent Guatemala during their upcoming international friendly against Uruguay.
Since joining Revolution II as a Revs Academy prospect in 2024, Escobar has appeared in 26 matches, where he tallied one assist over 1,082 minutes. After good showings at the start of 2023, Escobar joined Revolution II full-time after signing his first professional contract with the club on July 26, 2023.
Escobar’s performance with Revs II has attracted interest from the Guatemalan federation. The Malden, Massachusetts native made his international debut on February 12, 2023, when he played 90 minutes for the U-17 team in a 1-0 loss to Panama.
After strong showings across the U-17, U-18, and U-20 levels, Escobar made his senior debut for Guatemala on November 12, 2023, when he clocked 16 minutes in a scoreless draw against Jamaica. Escobar has three caps for the senior national team, where he tallied one assist over 58 minutes.
Escobar will look to add another cap to his international tally on September 1 when they face Uruguay inside Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, at 7:00 pm ET.
