NWSL Boston Presents Updated Stadium Design
NWSL Boston presented an updated rendering for White Stadium in the latest design meeting hosted by the City of Boston and Boston Unity Soccer Partners (BUSP) last week.
NWSL Boston presented an updated rendering for White Stadium in the latest design meeting hosted by the City of Boston and Boston Unity Soccer Partners (BUSP) last week.
The rendering shows three levels in both east and west grandstands. The west grandstand’s middle level will house private suites, whereas the east grandstand’s middle level will have an open concourse with standing room and field visibility for those going to concession stands.
Both grandstands will have a fabric canopy, though architectural consultants in the meeting maintained that the design is still a work in progress.
There will also be additional endline seating, which will be temporary and only used for game days. The building located at the south crescent and the green space in front of it, named the “Grove,” will serve as dining areas. BUSP hopes to bring in food trucks from local vendors.
The stadium’s facade will have white walls, similar to the existing clam shell wall, to achieve a cohesive look. Natural-toned materials will be implemented in order to have a stronger visual connection with the surrounding green space.
When asked about ticketing, BUSP’s Chief of Staff Kim Miner wrote, “There will be a range of ticket prices for Boston Unity Soccer games, including a supporters section and favorable pricing for neighbors who reside in the area immediately surrounding White Stadium.”
Though this was the final design meeting, there may still be changes to the shared designs.
The city, along with NWSL Boston’s ownership group consultants, have held several community meetings to present design and transportation plans, and receive feedback from residents. BUSP will file with the Boston Planning and Development Agency in the upcoming weeks, which will be followed with a review of finalized plans from several city commissions.
The renderings all look really good.
Can't wait! The idea of traveling less than 1 hour to see professional soccer is super appealing.
