Gustavo Bou Participates in Full Training: "He’s Obviously Going to be a Big Help During the Season"
The DP striker will be a welcome addition to the starting XI.
Gustavo Bou has arrived in the United States after receiving his Green Card and now he has jumped into full training with the New England Revolution on Tuesday.
While Bou arrived over the past weekend, he wasn’t just relaxing in his native Argentina. The striker was training in preparation for the 2023 season.
Bruce Arena was asked about Bou’s arrival and participation on Tuesday and sensing by his willingness to crack a few jokes at Bou’s expense, he was in a good mood.
“Yeah, [Gustavo Bou] had a nice vacation,” Arena joked. “It was nice of him to stop by. [Laughing] He heard that payday, he thought it was today, so that’s why he was here. But it’s good to have him back. He had a good training session today.”
Arena then went on to mention that it will take some time to figure out Bou’s timeline to return to the field and eventually the starting XI.
“Well, we have to see, tomorrow,” Arena said. “[Gustavo Bou] may be sore from today, we just have to see. He’s been working hard in a gym, basically, but that doesn’t help you once they make the field big, so we’ll see how he feels throughout the week.”
Bou was looking good in training, including scoring a banger of a goal as caught on camera by our own Seth Macomber.
Whenever Bou does return to full fitness and is ready to play a full 90 minutes, he will be a big boost to New England’s attack. In 19 games played, the 33-year-old secured eight goals and two assists.
Revolution youngster Noel Buck was asked about Bou’s potential return and he acknowledged that Bou will be a boost to New England’s lineup when he does return to the pitch.
“It’s obviously very nice,” Buck said. “He finally got his passport sorted out and he’s obviously going to be a big help during the season.”
The Revolution return to the pitch on Saturday when they face the Houston Dynamo in their 2023 home opener.
