Gustavo Bou "A Complete Difference Maker" Against FC Cincinnati
Dave Romney: "It's nice to have a player who can create stuff out of nothing or have a tiny sliver of a chance and have an amazing goal."
Gustavo Bou has the ability to score at any moment, and that’s why the New England Revolution are happy to have him on their team.
The Argentine was involved in both of the Revs’ goals in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati.
The first one occurred when he rocketed a shot that was pushed away by goalkeeper Roman Celentano. The ball then deflected off of Dominque Badji before settling into the back of the net. Later, Bou controlled a pass while inside the box before putting it past the netminder.
Neither goal was a high-opportunity chance, but Bou made the most of the moments.
“He was a complete difference maker for us, he’s the reason why we tied this game,” Dave Romney remarked. “He had his hand in both the goals and it's nice to have a player who can create stuff out of nothing or have a tiny sliver of a chance and have an amazing goal.”
He continued, “Happy he's on our team and he played well tonight to get us those two goals and he basically got us a result.”
Bou has only played in 11 of 20 games this season, but he’s been good when available. He’s collected either an assist or a goal in five of the games (he had both against Orlando). Additionally, the Revs are 6-1-2 when Bou starts.
The striker has dealt with injuries, but head coach Bruce Arena is hopeful that Bou will continue to put in performances like the one we saw on Saturday night.
“He did a good job,” Arena said. “He was part of the two goals, for sure. Obviously, he scored the second one and had the shot on the first one. He did a good job and he’s been back only a couple of weeks now. As we move forward, his fitness is going to improve and he’s going to continue to be a guy that can score goals for us.”
