Former Vermont Green Striker Makes Seattle Sounders Debut
It's a moment the 22-year-old won't forget
Former Vermont Green FC striker Eythor Bjørgolfsson made his debut with the Seattle Sounders in the club’s 3-1 loss to the LA Galaxy in the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday.
Along with it being a rough night for the Sounders, Bjørgolfsson didn’t find too much success once getting on the field. The Norwegian played 26 minutes and completed two of his five passes, registered one shot, won his single aerial dual, and committed a foul.
Bjørgolfsson has spent the 2023 season with Seattle’s second team, Tacoma Defiance. He has made four starts and had a goal and an assist in his last appearance against Real Monarchs SLC.
Bjørgolfsson is definitely a player to keep an eye on as he is a great aerial threat and is tough to bring down with his large frame. If he continues to perform well in MLS NEXT Pro, he could earn a call up to the first team later in the season or at the start of 2024.
