The defender made 29 appearances for the Latics in the 2022 season
Former Hartford Athletic defender Modou Jadama has died at the age of 30. According to reports, he was killed in a car accident, but no other details were immediately available.
Jadama was born in Serrekunda, The Gambia, but had moved to the United States at a young age and obtained American citizenship as a teenager. He began his professional career in the Chilean Primera División with Club Social y Deportivo Colo-Colo in 2015, and also played for Coquimbo Unido in the Primera B.
In 2017, he returned to the United States, signing with FC Tulsa (then known as Tulsa Roughnecks) of the USL Championship. In subsequent seasons, he spent time in the systems of MLS clubs Portland Timbers and Atlanta United, playing primarily with the reserve teams in the USL Championship, but also making two appearances - including one start - for the Timbers first team in the 2019 MLS season.
Prior to the 2022 season, he joined Hartford Athletic, making 29 appearances and logging nearly 2500 minutes, good for fifth on the team, and wearing the captain’s armband on two occasions. He also assisted on Corey Hertzog’s injury-time winner against NYRBII.
Across his USL Championship career, Jadama logged nearly 12,000 minutes across 139 appearances for four clubs, and more recently had been playing for Georgia Lions FC in NISA.
