Ema Boateng Officially Returns to New England Revolution
The return of the GOATeng
After spending the entire preseason as a trialist, Ema Boateng will be returning to the New England Revolution in 2023.
Along with being signed throughout the 2023 MLS season, his new contract includes a club option for the 2024 season. Another interesting tidbit is that Boateng will occupy a supplemental roster spot.
The 29-year-old has registered four goals and seven assists through 39 MLS appearances as a member of the Revolution. He has become a crucial super sub that can flip a game on its head.
“We are pleased to have Ema re-sign with the Revolution,” said head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena. “Ema has been a great contributor to our team both on and off the field, and I’m excited to have him return to our club.”
This is a huge signing for one reason only: BENCH DEPTH. The Revs are short on wingers and Ema is a proven threat off the bench that can add a spark to the whole team. He is still too much of a defensive liability for the starting XI imho, so let’s hope Borrero can stay healthy.
