Deadline Day Updates: Xavier Arreaga Headed to New England, Baba Deal Breaks Down
The latest on the New England Revolution's Deadline Day
If you’re thinking this is not a regular Tuesday, you’d be correct: Today is the final day of the MLS Primary Transfer Window. The New England Revolution find themselves working the phones in an effort to turn around a slow start to the season. Here’s the latest:
Iddrisu Baba Transfer Officially Off
Last week, we wrote about the expected acquisition of Iddrisu Baba, who spent this past season with Almeria of La Liga. While no hiccups were expected days ago, Hugo Cerezo of Revelo reported last night that the deal was off due to a disagreement over the agreement.
Our own Seth Macomber had an update on the situation, saying the team became aware of a sports hernia injury and pulled out of the agreement.
Xavier Arreaga Trade Reportedly Finalized
Yesterday, Tom Bogert reported the Revolution were working on a trade for Seattle Sounders CB Xavier Arreaga.
This morning, Seth Macomber reported the teams have finalized the move, with the Revolution dealing allocation money and an international roster spot to Seattle in return. Following Seth’s report, it was confirmed by Bogart as well as Niko Moreno of Sounders at Heart on X. Moreno also added that the international roster spot will be for the 2025 season.
While it was a busy morning, there are still a number of questions that will be answered today. Included among those questions is the status of Dave Romney, who Tom Bogart reported is on the trade block. We will have more updates on TBM throughout the day as stories develop.
Our problem has not been conceding goals so much as not scoring them. With the exception of Club America most of our games are decided by one goal. We only have 5 goals for versus 14 goals against in league play for a -9 goal Difference. If we were scoring more, I think the defensive side would take care of it self more.
