Dave van den Bergh Joins Timbers Coaching Staff
The former Revs assistant finds a new home in Portland under Phil Neville
Former Revolution assistant Dave van den Bergh is returning to Major League Soccer, as he accepted an Assistant Coaching role with the Portland Timbers.
The coach's time with the New England Revolution ended on September 12th, 2023, when the club announced they parted ways with van den Bergh and fellow assistant Shalrie Joseph.
Van den Bergh joins the Portland Timbers staff with 13 years of coaching experience in the United States Youth National Team system and the Revolution. The Dutchman joined the Revolution staff under former Head Coach and Sporting Director Bruce Arena on June 25th, 2019.
Timbers General Manager Ned Grabavoy said van den Bergh’s addition “brings the coaching staff a wealth of experience with his time in the sport, and we see him being a key asset within our group.”
The Timbers kick off their 2024 campaign on February 24th as they host the Colorado Rapids.
