Carles Gil Added to 2025 MLS All-Star Roster
The star midfielder is headed back to Austin to represent the Revolution!
Carles Gil is heading back to Austin.
The star midfielder joins Christian Espinoza, Hany Mukhtar, Obed Vargas, Marco Pašalić, and Sam Surridge as the six players added to the MLS All-Star Game roster ahead of next week’s festivities.
Gil’s inclusion in 2025’s festivities comes following controversy following his initial absence. Head Coach Caleb Porter called his initial snub a “travesty”.
Following Tuesday’s announcement, Gil told the media how he’ll use the All-Star Weekend as a way to honor the team and city.
“I love this team. I love Boston,” he said. “I love everything, so I’m going to try my best to represent my team.”
2025 will mark the fourth time Gil has represented the New England Revolution during All-Star Week since arriving in 2019, with all four coming in the past five seasons.
Gil has kept the Revolution afloat in 2025. He currently leads the club with a staggering eight goals and seven assists. Gil's assist total ties for the seventh-most in MLS.
All-Star festivities will begin on July 22nd at 9:00 PM ET when the Liga MX and MLS sides meet inside Q2 Stadium to battle for bragging rights during the 2025 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge.
The next day, July 23rd, both sides will reconvene inside Q2 Stadium for the 2025 MLS All-Star Game.
Major League Soccer will be looking for revenge after the Liga MX All-Stars won both the Skills Challenge and All-Star game in 2024.
Both the 2025 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge and All-Star Game will broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
I love Carles, I truly believe he deserves to be there, however his initial exclusion from the roster was a blessing. No need to add any extra miles on his legs or put him at risk for injury in an exhibition match (granted the trajectory Porter has us on it won't matter anyways come September)
Congrats to our Captain and our own Star!
