Boston Legacy announced a new signing Friday, this time a player with National Women’s Soccer League experience.
Attacking midfielder Barbara Olivieri will be joining the Legacy through 2029 in a transfer from the Houston Dash. She will be on loan to Club Tigres UANL in Liga MX Femenil through the end of this year.
OIivieri was acquired from the Dash for the following:
$50,0000 in 2025 intra-league transfer funds
$50,000 in 2026 intra-league transfer funds
$35,000 in conditional intra-league transfer funds
$30,000 in conditional expansion allocation money
This season, she has started in ten of 13 matches she’s appeared in, and has logged two goals and two assists.
In the 2024 season, she started 14 matches, recorded four goals and two assists, and subsequently won the team’s Young Player of the Year award. She also scored a goal in the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup and was a runner up for the Dash’s Golden Boot.
If you watched the Copa América Femenina this summer, you may have seen her representing Venezuela. Her team was knocked out in the first round after one win, one draw, and two losses. She made her senior debut for La Vinotinto in 2021, scoring the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 2–1 victory over India.
"Olivieri is a creative and dynamic player who despite her young age brings us a wealth of experience both domestically and internationally. As a regular in the NWSL, she has impacted high level games. She suits the team’s style of play and will be a strong addition to what we continue to build at Boston Legacy FC,” General Manager Domè Guasch said. “We are thrilled to welcome Barb to Boston, and our fans can look forward to the impact that she will have on and off the field."
Olivieri’s stint with Tigres will mark her return to the Mexican league where she began her professional career. She signed with CF Monterrey in 2022 and had a key role in helping the team reach the playoff semifinals in both the Clausura and Apertura 2022 regular seasons.
Originally from Katy, Texas, the midfielder played at Texas A&M University and was named to the All-SEC teams for both years she was there. She was also named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2020.
