Bobby Wood Returns After Dealing With A Heel Injury
Wood talks about what kept him out of the Sporting KC game.
Bobby Wood is happy to be back on the field after dealing with a heel injury.
The striker, who has two goals and two assists in eight appearances, missed last weekend’s 2-1 win over Sporting KC due to a heel injury.
“My heel had a really bad bruise from landing on it wrong,” Wood said. “It was swelling and it was bruised. It was a bad bone bruise basically, so it had to calm down because it kept reacting every time I was playing on it. But now it seems to be relaxed, so it should be good to go now.”
Wood noted that the time away from the field was frustrating because “you never want to be injured as a player.” He feels good now, saying, “I’ve got a great team working with me.”
The 30-year-old played 21 minutes off the bench against FC Cincinnati on Saturday. He was active, fighting for balls and looking to get behind the back line.
Wood, who joined the New England Revolution during the offseason, continues to build chemistry with his teammates. One relationship he’s forging is with Carles Gil as the creative midfielder and target striker are often looking for each other.
“It’s easy to play with Carles,” Wood said with a laugh. “We’ve got a lot of good guys on our team. I think we’re finding our chemistry as the season goes on. I think you can see that. We’re taking little steps forward and our main goal is to be this good at the end of the season, not just now.”
Saw that after the fact! Appreciate the reporting. Was hoping he’d start on a bit of a run ...
Any update on Vrioni? Did he hurt a heel as well?
