Blessing Ready To Win With The Revs Now That He's Reunited With Family
Latif Blessing: “They helped me a lot to bring my family here, so I have to help this club to win something."
Latif Blessing is ready to help the New England Revolution win after the club helped him bring his family to the United States.
When Blessing was traded to the Revs on Jan. 3, he asked the club to assist him in reuniting with his wife and child. It was something he unsuccessfully attempted while with LAFC.
On Saturday, Apr. 29, his family arrived in New England, and Blessing is overjoyed.
“I think they helped me a lot,” Blessing said about the Revolution. “I give credit to them. I think they make me happy, so I have to make them happy, too. So, I think this process, they helped me a lot.”
Blessing missed the Sporting KC game on Apr. 22 in order to travel to Ghana to complete the required visa paperwork. He was back in time to be in the stadium when the Revs tied FC Cincinnati 1-1 on Apr. 29.
Having practiced all week, Blessing could make the trip to Toronto FC. Perhaps more exciting is that he could soon play in front of his family for the first time.
“I think this is the first time my wife will see me playing, so I'm going to be so excited for her to see me playing, so I'm so happy for them to be here with me,” Blessing said.
Blessing is grateful that the club has been supportive of his family. He hopes he to repay their kindness by bringing a trophy to New England.
“I don't know how to thank them,” Blessing said. “They helped me a lot to bring my family here, so I have to help this club to win something. That's why I'm here. I'm so excited. I'm so happy for them to bring my family here, so they helped me a lot.
“They've been in my shoes, and I give credit to them. I give credit to everyone, especially Bruce [Arena]. Bruce helped me a lot. Every time he [would say], ‘Hey, when’s Latif’s wife coming?’ So, I give credit to him a lot. He helped me. He kept telling me, ‘We are going to do it, we’re going to do it.’ So, I give credit to him. Thank you.”
