Beason Makes Revolution Debut, Helps Club Collect First Win of 2025
Beason: "We all prepare ourselves to be ready, whether from the start or off the bench."
Tanner Beason understands that you have to be ready to step in at any given moment. His moment came in the 37th minute of Saturday’s game against the New York Red Bulls.
Wyatt Omsberg, who was starting in place of the injured Brayan Ceballos, needed to come out due to a hamstring injury. Beason was asked to step up.
“It’s always difficult to come in when you’re not expecting to at that point in the game, but I think we all prepare ourselves to be ready, whether from the start or off the bench,” Beason told The Blazing Musket.
Beason performed well in his New England Revolution debut, almost collecting a goal on a set piece. His minutes off the bench helped the club earn their first win of 2025.
The 28-year-old defender made 110 professional appearances with the San Jose Earthquakes before joining the Revolution in the off-season. While most of these appearances were starts, he came on as a substitute 22 times.
Switching coasts was a daunting move for the Stanford University alum, but he’s adjusted well, noting, “It’s a nice group of people, coaches, staff, players.”
In fact, everyone got together before the Red Bulls game to have a team dinner.
“We like playing soccer, but it’s fun to get together off the field,” Beason said. “I think it’s important. It’s obviously good for us to be together and comfortable on the field, but also comfortable with each other as people too, because I think that helps and translates.”
The Revolution’s next game is on Saturday at FC Cincinnati. It’s currently unknown who will start along the backline.
One thing is for sure: Beason will be prepared if his name is called.
“You just want to help the team in whatever way you can,” Beason said. “That’s why you come in every day and put your head down and do the work, because you don’t know what your role will be that day or the next day, so you just have to stay ready.”
