Luca Langoni has the second-most helpers (5) in Major League Soccer after Saturday's 3-0 win over CF Montreal, a game where he had a goal and assist.
Still, head coach Marko Mitrovic believes he has more to offer.
Langoni's game-winning tally against Montreal came in the 6th minute when he tapped in a rebound that was created by Dor Turgeman's shot. His right-footed free kick in the 77th was put away by Mamadou Fofana to extend the home side's lead.
Carles Gil smiled when asked about Langoni's performance.
"I'm very happy for him," Gil said.
Signed from Boca Juniors in August 2024 for a reported $7 million transfer fee, Langoni bagged three goals and two assists in just over 700 minutes during his first MLS season.
He only amassed two goals and two assists in his second campaign, starting 19 of his 27 league appearances.
Mitrovic, who arrived before the 2026 season, was tasked with getting Langoni into dangerous situations with more consistency. So far, so good, as the Argentine has one goal and five assists in 310 minutes.
"He's growing game after game," Mitrovic said. "He had several occasions today when he was running in behind."
Clocked at 21.55 mph in 2025, Langoni is one of the fastest players in the league. This year, he has become a weapon on set pieces.
This maturation has come through daily work on the training grounds. Mitrovic, who has said that it's his job to get the most out of each player, sees a lot of potential in Langoni.
"I still believe Luca can do more," Mitrovic said. "He's opening his mind to how dangerous and how good he can be if he exposes his strength all the time. We’ve been working consistently now for almost three months on those small details in his game.
"I just believe that he's going to get even better and better, but I'm very happy with his performances so far."
