Marko Mitrovic's feelings about Matt Turner are clear, with the head coach saying, "For me, Matt is the best goalkeeper in the league."
And the numbers back him up.
Sofascore notes that Turner has prevented 5.16 goals through eight games, making him the most effective goalkeeper in Major League Soccer. His 4.5 saves per game puts him third behind Brad Stuver (5.6) and Kristijan Kahlina (4.7).

Wednesday's performance against Atlanta United was called "vintage Turner," as he made a season-high eight saves to secure a 2-1 win.
It's exactly what you'd expect from the former MLS Goalkeeper of the Year who played for Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace.
"When you have such a high-profile goalkeeper, you expect him to prevent goal-scoring opportunities," Mitrovic said. "Matt is doing what he has to do, and he’s doing that at a high level."
It's a big year for Turner, who is looking to represent the US Men's National Team in a second consecutive World Cup. His club future is also a question, as his loan from Lyon expires at the end of June.
Mitrovic is rooting for Turner through it all, having previously worked with him at the USMNT.
"I really appreciate Matt as a person and then as a goalkeeper," Mitrovic said. "When I came to New England, I was really happy that I would have the opportunity to work with him again.”
