Friday was a whirlwind day for New England Revolution fans as news surfaced that Chelsea made a bid for Djordje Petrovic.
Petrovic, 23, has quickly become one of the best goalkeepers in Major League Soccer after joining the Revs in April 2022. 15 months later, the elite shot-stopper could be on his way to England.

Here’s what we know:
- Petrovic was being courted by Nottingham Forest (England) and FC Nantes (France) in late July-early August. Multiple bids were rejected by the Revs.
- Chelsea recently made an offer for Petrovic. Talks are ongoing. According to Tom Bogert of The Athletic, a final deal could be in the vicinity of $15 million (£11.8m).
- Sources told that Petrovic wasn’t a full participant in the Revs’ training session on Friday. Petrovic isn’t hurt.
- Sources also told Macomber that Jacob Jackson was slated to be with Revs II on Friday, but he flew home early so he could train with the first team.
- Macomber was told that if a sale to Chelsea does happen, it would be a full transfer with no loan-back option. A final decision is expected in the coming days.
- Sources told that the Revs have had discussions with Josh Cohen, a free agent who most recently played with Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Premier League. Discussions are currently not happening due to Atlanta United holding his discovery rights. The Revs do remain an option for the GK.
