Jojea Kwizera has become the first current Rhode Island FC player to score while on international duty. In his first start for Rwanda, Kwizera scored the game-winning goal in the African nation’s crucial 1-0 win over Lesotho.

Kwizera played 60 minutes in the win that saw Rwanda maintain its lead in Group C of Confederation of African Football World Cup qualifiers. South Africa and Benin are equal on points but Rwanda holds the tie-breaker with the best goal differential.

RIFC will remain without Kwizera as Rwanda faces its toughest test on March 19 as they face a talented Nigerian squad.
