Another member of the 2025 Portland Hearts of Pine squad has landed a new club for 2026, as veteran forward Jake Keegan has signed with USL League One expansion side Corpus Christi FC.
Corpus Christi will be Keegan’s sixth League One stop during his 15-year professional career. He previously played for Greenville Triumph SC, Forward Madison FC, One Knoxville SC, and former League One club Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC before spending last season in Portland. The signing also reunites Keegan with former Portland Hearts of Pine teammate Patrick Langlois.
A consistent attacking presence throughout his career, Keegan brings experience and leadership to an expansion team looking to establish itself. While his highest-scoring seasons may be behind him, the 35-year-old, entering his 16th professional season, remains a respected veteran. Head coach Éamon Zayed jokes that Keegan is “the Benjamin Button of the USL,” saying his game looks more youthful with age.
Now entering his seventh League One campaign, Keegan ranks among the league’s all-time leaders: third in appearances, seventh in minutes played, sixth in goals, and fifth in points. He also brings championship pedigree, having won the League One title with Greenville in 2020 and the USL Jägermeister Cup with Northern Colorado in 2024.
The move also reunites Keegan with Zayed, who coached him in 2024 at Northern Colorado. In Corpus Christi, he’s expected to take on a leadership role similar to the one he held with Portland’s young core.
