Boston Legacy FC has finally hit the minimum roster size with the signing of Ugandan international Fauzia Najjemba.

The forward is joining as a free agent and will be on a two-year contract with a mutual option to renew.

“I’m really excited to join Boston Legacy,” said Najjemba. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to give my all for the team. I’m so proud to represent Boston and eager to get to work.”

Najjemba is departing Russian top flight club Dynamo Moscow, which she joined in 2023. The 22-year old has 16 goals over 47 total appearances, including three goals in 12 games this past season.

Prior to moving to Russia, the striker played for BIIK-Shymkent in Kazakhstan. In her single season there, Najjemba won the league and represented the team during UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying.

“We’re excited to welcome Fauzia to Boston. She’s a young player with a lot of potential who has already gained valuable experience across two European leagues, and she’s an important part of her national team,” said Legacy general manager Domè Guasch. “We believe her qualities will translate well to the NWSL, and she has the right mindset to learn, improve, and keep pushing. We’re confident we can provide the environment to help her take the next step.”

Najjemba debuted for Uganda’s national team when she was 16 and has since received regular call ups. She’s played several international tournaments at the youth and senior levels, including the U-20 World Cup qualifiers and the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
