Boston Legacy FC has acquired Danish international Josefine Hasbo in a trade with Gotham FC, the team announced Thursday.
Gotham will receive $50,000 in allocation money. Contract details will be announced at a later time.
Hasbo is the 24th player to be added to the roster and will fill the team’s eighth and final international roster spot, which it received in the Nichelle Prince trade with the Kansas City Current.
The midfielder made her NWSL debut this past June and played a total of 641 minutes over 11 games for the Bats.
The Dane played four seasons at Harvard University, recording 25 goals and 17 assists over her collegiate career. Her junior year proved her most successful after netting a team high of 10 goals and 26 points. Hasbo also led the Crimson to the 2023 Ivy League championship final, in which she scored a hat-trick, and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. She was also a MAC Hermann trophy semifinalist that year.
The 24-year-old represented Denmark on various youth teams growing up and received her senior team call up at age 18. She has since been a regular on the team and made appearances at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Prior to moving to the United States, Hasbo played for Danish club Brøndby IF. She won a league championship with the team and was also to compete in the Champions League for two seasons. She ended her time there with 16 goals over 73 matches.
“[Hasbo’s] played at the highest level for Denmark, including the World Cup and Euros, and she brings a real mix of tactical intelligence, flexibility, and competitiveness,” Legacy general manager Domè Guasch said. “Josefine can help in a number of roles, and she understands what the game is asking for in different moments. Just as important, she fits what we’re building at Boston Legacy, on the pitch and off it. We’re excited to have her with us and looking forward to the impact she’ll make.”
