Victor Souza’s time with New England Revolution II came to an end on Friday as the free agent defender signed a one-year deal with USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC that includes a one-year club option for 2027.

Souza’s time in New England began on December 21, 2022, after the Revolution selected the Boston College defender with the 39th pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.

The defender signed his first professional contract on February 22, 2023, as he joined Revolution II. His three seasons with Revs II saw him tally two goals and an assist in 70 appearances, the sixth-most in club history. Souza also clocked 6,015 minutes, which is the third-most in club history. Since the 2024 season, Souza had captained Revolution II 35 times.

Souza is the third big departure for Revolution II this offseason, following the departure of Marcos Dias and Cristiano Oliveira’s recent promotion to the first team (though he could still feature with the second team).

Souza reunites with former Revs II teammate Nico Campuzano, who signed with Pittsburgh on January 2. The duo joins the likes of Pierre Cayet, Trevor Zwetsloot, and Edward Kizza, who went on to play with the Riverhounds after departing New England Revolution II.

Souza joins Pittsburgh following the Riverhounds’ USL Championship victory in 2025.
