Dor Turgeman had arguably the hottest start to possible to his New England Revolution career but he has cooled off as the FIFA World Cup break nears.

Turgeman became the 23rd player to record a goal and an assist in their MLS debut. Additionally, he became the 10th MLS player to score in each of his first three appearances.

With how well he performed, it seemed like he would be a key part of New England's attack. He even started the 2026 season off well scoring a goal and an assist against FC Cincinnati but since then he has only added an additional goal and an assist.

Turgeman accounts for 3.9 percent of New England's touches and is in the fourth percentile across MLS for offensive net goals added. The striker also averages 0.8 shots and averages a 78 percent passing completion rate. He also has three big chances missed.

“Yeah, we are working on that," Mitrovic said when asked about Turgeman. "We need every player on the team to score goals. Again, something we spoke about here several times, Dor is a forward, and no matter what the description of his job, the measurement will always be goals. But for us, [what] matters [is] those small actions that he does. Again, like you said, what kind of situations we can provide Dor, but also what kind of moments he can make to make himself more available, especially when some crosses are coming. But again, today's game wasn't easy for him, because he played against two really good players. But hopefully, sooner than later, we will get him on the score sheet, because at the end of the day, that's the confidence that every forward wants to have, and that's their game. So hopefully, next game Dor will be on the score sheet.”

There have been moments when the frustration has boiled over for the striker. There are times when he has started scuffles with opponents and also showed his anger by being demonstrative on the field.

Turgeman did admit that it has been difficult during the slump and he hopes to find the back of the net.

“Of course, it’s not easy, I'm going to keep pushing and I hope to get more chances and more opportunities," Turgeman said.

With Leo Campana still hurt and Luca Langoni recently being sidelined, the Revolution need Turgeman to start scoring. If not, the pressure on Carles Gil will only continue after the midfielder hasn't had to shoulder the heavy lifting as much in 2026.

While Turgeman is great at doing all the little things, he was brought in to score goals. If the struggles continue, he could become yet another disappointing striker that New England has acquired in recent history.
