New England Revolution II secured two points after playing to a scoreless draw and securing a 7-6 shootout victory over Toronto FC II. Here are three thoughts.

1 - Siqueira’s Strapping Start

Sunday saw Judah Siqueira make his first start since inking his first professional contract to join Revolution II full-time.

The 16-year-old ended his first start of 2026 with two key passes, two of four accurate crosses, completed 34 of 41 passes, two of three accurate long balls, completed four defensive actions, and capped off the night by converting in the shootout to help secure a 7-6 shootout victory.

Siqueira was one of a few Academy prospects I was excited to watch in 2026. Now that he’s a full-fledged member of the team, I’m even more excited to see how he progresses throughout the year.

2 - Gunn’s Ablazing

Defense is entirely a team effort, but JD Gunn played a big role in that effort as he made two big saves to guide New England to a scoreless draw. He also made two massive saves during the penalty shootout to help secure two points.

Gunn has always been solid when in net for Revolution II. It was good to see him return to the second team after signing a first-team deal in the offseason.

With Gunn looking to punch his ticket to this summer’s World Cup, I’d expect him to make a few more appearances with the club throughout 2026.

3 - Awful Aim

Despite taking a league-leading 40 shots, Revs II managed to put 32.5 percent of them on target, which is the 10th-worst percentage in MLS NEXT Pro. Additionally, they’ve only managed to find the net once in the opening 180 minutes, which is in a five-way tie for the second fewest so far.

There’s still plenty of season left, and the team is still gelling under a new leader in Pablo Moreira, but this team needs to start putting the chances they create on target, or it could come back to haunt them.
