Wednesday saw Revolution II kick off its slate of preseason matches when New England squared off against USL Championship side Rhode Island FC and secured a 5-4 victory.
Pablo Moreira rolled out three trialists to start the first half alongside Chris Mbaï-Assem, Jake Shannon, Joe Buck, Myles Morgan, Jayden Da, first-teamer Damario McIntosh, and Academy prospects Judah Siqueira and Makai Harr.
The first change of the day came in the 16th minute when Academy prospect Ivan Villalobos Lopez replaced Judah Siqueira.
New England got things rolling in the 29th minute when Damario McIntosh slotted the ball to Jayden Da, who sent a shot to the bottom-left corner that evaded the reach of Rhode Island’s keeper.
Another change came in the 30th minute, right after the goal, as Sharod George came on to replace goalscorer Jayden Da.
Revolution II found themselves with a good opportunity in the 36th minute after Myles Morgan drew a foul inside the box to award Revs II a penalty kick. Joe Buck stepped to the spot and delivered New England’s second goal of the day.
The second half saw six trialists start alongside Sharod George and Academy prospects Ivan Villalobos Lopez, Ryker Fauth, Aarin Prajapati, and Grant Emerhi.
It didn’t take long for New England’s offense to get going again as the 48th minute saw Grant Emerhi burst down the right flank and found Sharod George inside the box, who slotted home New England’s third goal of the match.
The first change of the second half came in the 61st minute as Academy prospect Levi Katsell replaced Ivan Villalobos Lopez. New England’s final change came in the 75th minute as Academy prospect Cristiano Carlos replaced Sharod George.
A pair of trialists linked up in the 80th minute, while Grant Emerhi assisted a trialist in the 85th to net New England’s fourth and fifth goals of the day.
