New England Revolution fans will have to wait a bit longer to fill the seats at Gillette Stadium to watch the Revs, as the club announced on Friday that the original home opener, scheduled for March 7 against the Houston Dynamo, has been rescheduled due to the historic blizzard.
As many are aware, the artificial surface at Gillette was removed to make room for a natural grass surface. While groundscrews have made progress, the recent blizzard delayed the harvesting and delivery of the natural grass surface.
While there is a delay, the Gillette grounds crew is on schedule for infrastructure to maintain the grass surface, as the club states, “The Gillette Stadium field crew is prepared to install the grass when it arrives.”
A rescheduled date and time for the makeup match will be announced at a later date.
With Friday’s announcement, the new home opener for New England will take place on Sunday, March 15th, when they host FC Cincinnati at 2:30 PM ET.
