A familiar name has been around the New England Revolution Training Center, as The Blazing Musket's Seth Macomber is reporting that former Homegrown and free agent Diego Fagundez has been training with the team.

Sources: Diego Fagundez has been training with the New England Revolution. Fagundez, 31, was the first-ever Homegrown for the Revs, signing at 15 years old. He departed after the 2020 season, and has since played for Austin FC and LA Galaxy.

The Leominster native made history when the then-15-year-old became the first Homegrown in Revolution history on November 15, 2010. Fagundez’s 10 seasons with the Revolution saw him tally 54 goals and 42 assists in 278 appearances across all competitions.

The midfielder’s time with the Revolution ended after his contract expired following the 2020 MLS season. As a free agent, Fagundez continued his professional career on January 5, 2021, after signing a deal with then-expansion side Austin FC. Fagundez made Austin FC history on April 24th, 2021, as he netted the first goal in club history in Austin’s 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids. He went on to tally 17 goals and 18 assists in 95 appearances across all competitions for Austin before he was dealt to the LA Galaxy on August 1, 2023.

The midfielder’s time in Los Angeles saw him tally 13 goals and seven assists in 96 appearances across all competitions. Fagundez also played a role in the Galaxy’s 2024 MLS Cup title victory. His time with the Galaxy ended after his contract with the club expired following the 2025 MLS season.

It’s unclear whether this could result in the fan favorite making a return to the Revolution, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on.
