Boston Legacy FC will return to Gillette Stadium on Monday, August 31 to battle it out with the only team in the league it has yet to play: Angel City FC.

Back in the BOS Nation days, the team named ACFC as one of its biggest rivals. It may be a manufactured rivalry considering this is the first time the teams will meet, but an LA-Boston matchup always brings great entertainment.

Boston (5-11-5) sits at 15th in the league with 20 points and is coming off of three straight losses. The team has not won a game since its 1-0 victory against the KC Current in late July. Angel City (7-8-5) is 10th in the league with 26 points and is in playoff contention. The Angels had a series of draws before falling to the North Carolina Courage last Wednesday; the team has not won a game since July 18 against the Chicago Stars.

Here’s what to expect.

Player Availability and Disciplinary Report

BLFC will be without Laís Araújo due to a thigh injury. Lilly Reale will also be out after getting surgery on a broken pinky (sustained during the Racing Louisville match). Annie Karich is listed as questionable for a thigh injury. 

Chloe Ricketts continues to be unavailable due to an ankle injury sustained earlier in the season, and Fauzia Najjemba is out for the rest of the year because of a thigh injury.

Defender Kaká is finally off the injury list after suffering an ankle fracture in March. She has only had two appearances for the club, but her return has been long anticipated by fans who want to see changes in the defensive line. 

ACFC midfielder Ary Borges, who has started nearly every game this season, will be unavailable due to an excused absence. Sydney Leroux, the NWSL veteran who played for the Boston Breakers and recently made her return to the field after nearly two years, will be out due to a thigh injury. 

Hannah Seabert, one of the team’s goalkeepers, will also be out, and Hina Sugita and Jun Endo are sidelined for the season as a result of ACL injuries. 

Barbara Olivieri is on a card accumulation warning. Should she get booked for a yellow card in the next three games, she will have to serve a one-game suspension. If she is not carded within those games, her yellow card count will be reduced to three for good behavior.
