Vermont Green FC Signs Trinidad & Tobago Youth Internationals, Former Player Makes Pro Debut
From Boston to Burlington
Vermont Green FC is continuing to prepare for the upcoming USL League Two season as the club has announced multiple signings.
After playing for The Green in the U.S. Open Cup, Xavi O’Neil has signed with the club for the 2024 season. The 19-year-old plays collegiately at Boston College where he was named to the 2023 ACC All-Freshman team.
O’Neil also has international experience playing for Trinidad & Tobago’s U-20 national team. He also played for D.C. United’s Academy from 2019 to 2021.
The Green also added Syracuse goalkeeper Jahiem Wickham who featured in Trinidad & Tobago’s U-20 setup. In his sophomore season he tallied 14 appearances (13 starts) while racking up five clean sheets.
Wickham shares a hometown with a former Revolution player who attended Syracuse. Both Tajon Buchanan and the goalkeeper call Brampton, Ontario home.
Finally a former member of The Green made their pro debut as Nathan Messer appeared as a sub in Rhode Island FC’s 0-0 draw with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Messer played 11 minutes and racked up three passes into the final third with one chance created.
The 2024 USL League Two season is nearly here as Vermont kicks off its season on May 19 against Boston City FC.
