Vermont Green FC Defender Signs With Costa Rican Primera Division Club
After spending his summer in Burlington, Gerardo Castillo will be headed south to begin his professional career.
After spending 2024 with Vermont Green FC and playing collegiality for Virginia Commonwealth University, Gerardo Castillo will be playing professional soccer in Costa Rica for Asociación Deportiva San Carlos.
The San Jose, Costa Rica, native spent three seasons with the Rams, guiding them to a 2023 regular season Atlantic 10 Championship as a first-team All-Conference defender. He was also named to the A-10 All-Rookie team as a freshman in 2022.
Castillo was a captain for the Rams and made 42 starts, racking up 3,600 minutes and tallying three goals and seven assists over his collegiate career.
