USWNT Release Final Roster for 2024
The USWNT will face off against the two most recent European champions to close out 2024.
On Monday the United States Women’s Nation Team released its team roster for upcoming friendlies against England and the Netherlands.
England (2022) and the Netherlands (2017) are the most recent champions of the UEFA Women’s Euros and have reached the finals of the last two FIFA Women’s World Cups, with England losing to Spain in 2023 and the Netherlands being defeated by the U.S. women in 2019.
For this roster, fifteen of the twenty-two members of the 2024 Olympic team received the call-up, including several USWNT veterans. This includes team captain Lindsey Horan, Alyssa Naeher, Rose Lavelle, Emily Sonnett, Lynn Williams, Emily Fox, and Naomi Girma. Defender Tierna Davidson also returned to the roster after an injury caused her to miss out on October camp.
Emma Hayes has named two uncapped players to the roster, former Seattle Reign and current Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Utah Royals FC forward Ally Senator. Senator recently captained the U.S. side that finished third at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and was a nominee for NSWL Rookie of the Year.
The seven players who received their first caps during the previous October camp, all earned call-ups once again. Those players include Hal Hershfelt and Emily Sams, both were alternates on the 2024 Olympic roster, PSG defender Eva Gaetino, Alyssa Malonson, Yazmeen Ryan, Emma Sears, and goalkeeper Mandy Haught, who recently saw action in the USA’s shutout against Argentina.
USWNT will be facing off against the Lionesses on November 30th at Wembley Stadium, before heading to ADO Den Hague Stadium to take on the Netherlands on December 3rd. These will be the final matches of 2024 for the U.S. women.
