USL League 2 News: NEFC Joins Northeast Division
"The USL League Two program is an integral part of NEFC's elite development pathway, reinforcing our commitment to creating a premier environment for growth at every level."
USL League Two’s Northeast division will have some more competition in 2025.
The league announced that New England Futbol Club will be playing in the division starting in 2025. The club’s matches will be played in Worcester.
“NEFC is thrilled to announce the launch of our USL League 2 Boys program for the summer of 2025.” NEFC director of coaching Christian F. Battaglia said. “Our mission is to elevate players to the next level, and this expansion of our program reflects that core value. The USL League Two program is an integral part of NEFC's elite development pathway, reinforcing our commitment to creating a premier environment for growth at every level. We are proud to continue promoting from within and supporting players in their pursuit of collegiate and professional opportunities.”
The club was formed in 2009 and has gone on to win 10 national titles across multiple youth and pre-professional leagues and tournaments. NEFC describes itself as a “not for profit premier soccer club”.
The way this is written makes it sound specifically like a children’s team, but I thought USL2 was just a lower level professional league. Excited about this news as a Worcester native, though!
