RIFC Add More Depth Ahead of 2025
The Amber and Blue are rounding out their roster ahead of the 2025 campaign
Rhode Island FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Will Meyer, adding depth at the position for the Ocean State following the retirement of Nate Silveira in the offseason.
Meyer was selected by MLS side Nashville SC in the 2022 SuperDraft with the 38th pick. In two seasons playing for the Akron Zips, Meyer made twenty-seven appearances, keeping eight clean sheets. Before Akron, Meyer played for the University of Louisville where he appeared in fifteen matches with nine shutouts.
Most recently Meyer played for New York City FC II in MLS NEXT Pro competition, making eight appearances for them in the 2024 season.
The club also announced the signing of Providence College defender Cole Dewhurst, making him the team’s third PC signing along with midfielder Kevin Vang and former defender Nathan Messier.
Over the course of four seasons with the Friars, Dewhurst started sixty-five games, including all thirty-nine games in his final two seasons.
Prior to Providence College, Dewhurst was a member of the New England Revolution Academy, playing in more than ninety matches before being called up to New England Revolution II where he would make his professional debut in 2021.
Rhode Island currently has 23 players under contract for the 2025 season.
