Revs Provide Injury Updates For Brandon Bye and Carles Gil
Bye and Gil left Thursday's game early.
The New England Revolution had two players exit Thursday’s game against Atlas FC early due to injury.
Brandon Bye departed in the 49th minute, being replaced by Ryan Spaulding. Spaulding played left back while DeJuan Jones shifted to the right.
Bye was later seen on the sidelines using crutches.
Interim Revs head coach Richie Williams said he’ll know more about Bye’s injury in the coming days.
“We're not sure of that yet,” Williams said when asked about Bye’s status. “We'll see more [Friday]. We're hoping it's not a serious injury.”
Revs captain Carles Gil also departed early, making way for brother Nacho Gil in the 73rd minute.
Gil was a recipient of a poor tackle minutes earlier, though he continued to play before coming off.
After the game, Williams said, “[Gil] got a knock on his knee. Not a twist or anything serious, but it just basically got swollen, so it was very difficult for him to continue on.”
Gil spoke to Sam Minton about the injury, saying, “We’ll see. It’s not the knee, it’s the muscle. It was a strong kick. I think, like I said, the goal was to stop me, to take me off the pitch. But [Atlas F.C.] forgot the rest of the team, and we won.”
It’s worth noting that the Revs were without Bobby Wood on Thursday because the striker was dealing with a knock.
LOVE the quote from Gil! That’s OUR CAPTAIN!
