Revs Continue To Deal With Injuries
Jones: “We always have that ‘next man up’ mentality but we’re missing some key players now and the list is adding up, so we’re hoping that these guys can recover quickly."
Injuries continue to mount for the New England Revolution, but the team is staying optimistic.
Carles Gil and Brandon Bye exited Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Union due to injury. The team hopes that both players will be back soon as they're already dealing with a host of absences in Dylan Borrero, Henry Kessler, Gustavo Bou, Nacho Gil, Tommy McNamara, and Maciel.
Gil departed this weekend’s game in the 35th minute with what the broadcast called a “right leg injury.”
In his post-game press conference, head coach Bruce Arena said, “We’ll know more after we get an MRI.”
The Revs lost another player during stoppage time when Bye left the game clutching his shoulder.
Unfortunately for the Revs, injuries have been a regularly occurrence this season.
“Tonight was a tough one,” Jones said. “We always have that ‘next man up’ mentality but we are missing some key players now and the list is adding up. We're hoping that these guys can recover quickly and get back on the field to help us. It's been a tough year for injuries for us so far.”
The Revs have now accumulated three straight losses, including two in league play. Arena isn’t worried about the trend, saying, “It’s all part of competition. I suspect we’re going to be fine.”
The Revs return home next weekend after three league games on the road. Jones is looking at Saturday’s game as an opportunity to get back on the right track.
“Each game is a fresh game,” Jones remarked. “Three losses but now we have a new against Chicago Fire. We’re going to prepare this week, get ready and we're going to have a good mentality.”
