Report: Revolution Receive Offers for Djordje Petrović
The Djordje Petrović sweepstakes have begun!
After months of suspected interest from top European clubs, offers for Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrović have started arriving at the desk of Bruce Arena.
Earlier this summer, Petrović was linked with Premier League side Manchester United as the 23-year-old was reportedly being “heavily scouted” by the EPL giants. No deal ever came through as Man United shifted focus to Andre Onana.
In June, Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella broke the news that Petrović would only consider a move away from New England if he would be the number-one keeper at whichever club acquired the Serbian.
Some time has passed since, but a new report from The Athletic’s Tom Bogert broke the news that the New England Revolution had received offers for Petrović but turned them down.
According to Bogert, Premier League side Nottingham Forest and Ligue 1 side FC Nantes sent bids. Bogert adds that they were in the $8 million region and included add-ons.
It’s worth noting that the Revolution sold fellow goalkeeper Matt Turner to Arsenal about one year ago for a similar package.
Considering the Revolution find themselves in second place in the Eastern Conference, it will take more than $8 million to get a deal over the line.
Not yet! Thankfully.
Can’t stand in his way if there is a good offer and he wants to go. I really hope he leaves behind a trophy or several when he does go.
