Report: Revolution Set to Acquire Henrich Ravas
The 26-year-old Slovakian goalkeeper currently plays for Polish first division side Widzew Łódź.
As the 2024 campaign approaches, the New England Revolution are reportedly set to upgrade the goalkeeping position. According to our own Seth Macomber, the club is set to acquire 26-year-old Slovakian goalkeeper Henrich Ravas from Polish first-division side Widzew Łódź.
Through 19 appearances across all competitions, Ravas has conceded 27 goals and has tallied three clean sheets. Despite the high number of conceded goals, Ravs ranks high in other stats across the Ekstraklasa, including passes (4th - 548) and saves (1st - 59).
Ravas’ football journey has taken him across the globe. Before joining Widzew Łódź, Ravas had stints with Spartak Myjava U-19s, Peterborough U-18s, Derby, Hartlepool, and FK Senica. Henrich is no stranger to Boston, as he spent time with National League side Boston United’s U-19 team (albeit they are located in the UK).
While the Revolution seem interested in Ravas, they aren’t the only MLS suitors for the Slovakian keeper. According to Chris Rifer of the Soccer Made In Portland Podcast, the Portland Timbers are also pursuing Ravas to fill their need at goalkeeper.
Ravas' rumor comes after a chaotic end to the 2023 season that saw the club sell standout goalkeeper Djordje Petrović to Chelsea. The club quickly went out and signed free agent Tomáš Vaclík. Despite Vaclík's addition, the Czech keeper never saw the field in 2023 and only made one bench appearance. There is no word on what Vaclík's future entails.
The situation is something to monitor as the Revolution approach the start of preseason preparations on January 13.
