Porter Provides An Availability Update Ahead of Red Bulls Game
Porter gives an update on Carles Gil, Peyton Miller, Tomas Chancalay, and those on international duty.
New England Revolution head coach Caleb Porter provided a player availability update after Tuesday’s training session.
Carles Gil, who has played every minute this year, left practice early, a decision that Porter called “precautionary.”
“We think [Gil] will be good,” Porter said. “He just felt a little something early in training, but we think he will be good. It was more precautionary.”
Peyton Miller, who hasn’t seen the field this season, was a full participant in practice and should be an option for Saturday’s game against the New York Red Bulls.
“[Miller] got a good week of training last week with good loads,” Porter said. “Obviously, he has been out and hasn’t played in a game. Can he go enough to start? We’ll have to evaluate that over the next couple of days.”
Leo Campana trained off to the side. Tomas Chancalay participated in finishing drills as he works his way back from an ACL injury.
The Argentine attacker was spotting shooting alongside countryman Maxi Urruti. While this is positive, Chancalay is still some time away from game minutes.
“Right now with Chancalay he’s still in the final stages of return to play, so he’s still a couple of weeks out,” Porter said.
Ignatius Ganago, Alhassan Yusuf, and Mamadou Fofana were away on international duty and are expected back this week. Porter said they’ll be assessed once they're in Foxboro.
“There are a lot of things you have to look at,” Porter said. “Did they play? How much did they play? How long was the travel? It’s obviously not ideal, but again, we need to put the guys in the team and in the lineup that can help us win this next game. It’s a very important game.”
To win you have to score!
Good update! Did feingold travel as well?
