Richie Williams provided a health update on Carles Gil following a highly physical outing for the Spaniard during Thursday’s Leagues Cup Round of 32 match against Atlas.

According to FotMob, the Revolution midfielder was on the receiving end of four fouls from Atlas. Things got scary in the 57th minute as Anderson Satamaría committed a harsh off-ball foul on Gil. Satamaría's foul caused the DP midfielder to thrash in pain on the pitch as the medical staff came to tend to him. Thankfully, Carles continued, but the pain was too much as his brother Nacho replaced him in the 73rd minute.

During media availability on Sunday, interim Head Coach Richie Williams gave an update on Gil and fellow DP Gustavo Bou ahead of Monday’s Leagues Cup Round of 16 match against Querétaro FC. Williams said, “Carles and Gustavo, they’re recovering. We hope they’re going to be fine tomorrow for the game.”

Carles Gil took to his Instagram story to provide an update as he posted a photo of his severely bruised knee. Gil also used the Instagram story to question the referee’s decision to only hand Satamaría a yellow card for the challenge by writing “Yellow card” with a laughing emoji and tagging the Leagues Cup Instagram.

Hopefully, Carles is ready for Monday's Leagues Cup match, but after seeing that picture, I would not fault the Revolution for being cautious.
