Breaking: Robert Kraft was Approached to Move Revs
Hayden Bird was at the community meeting where Kraft dropped the bombshell.
New England Revolution ownership dropped a bombshell at an Everett community meeting where a possible soccer-specific stadium in the city was being discussed. Robert Kraft stated that people from outside Massachusetts were looking to move the team.
Patriots fans might possibly remember this scenario when it was rumored that the football franchise could be moving to Hartford. Kraft even signed a deal to bring the Patriots to Connecticut, but three months later a deal was made to build what would become Gillette Stadium.
Now the potential for a move appears to be in the rearview mirror and hopefully, the Revolution will be able to get a stadium of their own in the coming years.
The Blazing Musket reached out to the club for any comment or clarification regarding Kraft’s quote and as of publication has yet to receive a response.
This is a typical, right-out-of-the-playbook Bobby Kraft bluff. It's so obvious. He's trying to get movement on this. If Everett doesn't eventually work out, he'll end up building a SSS right across Rt.1 in Foxborough, and I'm fine with that.
If the Revs move outside of Mass I’d be really sad. I’m assuming it’s a bargaining chip to push for the Everett stadium, but also I wouldn’t be surprised if the Krafts are fed up with Boston and build a stadium in RI or Connecticut in a city that wants them.
I guess as long as they don’t move too far away and remain a New England team I’ll be fine.
