CT United FC bolstered its midfield on Wednesday as the club announced the signing of Ernesto Gómez.
The 18-year-old midfielder arrives in Connecticut after beginning his career in his native Panama with San Francisco FC II, Universidad Latina de Panamá, and, most recently, first division side CD Universitario.
Gómez’s time with Universitario saw the midfielder tally three goals and two assists in 43 appearances for the club.
Despite only being 18, Gómez already has some impressive international experience under his belt. The Nuevo Arraiján native’s first crack on the international level came in 2023 when he clocked 85 minutes in three appearances during that year’s Under-17 World Cup. He also clocked seven minutes in two appearances during this fall’s Under-20 World Cup.
2025 saw Gómez take home silverware at the international level, as he and the Panama U21 team won silver in the 2025 Central American Games.
In total, Gómez has three appearances with Panama’s U17 squad, seven with the U20s, and four with the U21s.
Gómez becomes the 16th addition by CT United FC ahead of the club’s inaugural season.
