Boston Legacy FC revealed its second kit on Thursday and it is a complete change of direction to what we saw with the first kit.
The “Common Ground” Nike kit is emblazoned with a “layered collage” meant to represent the different Boston neighborhoods, which can be discerned through the shape outlines as well as the black negative space. And unlike the monochrome “First Light” jersey, this one has all the colors:
- Pitch Black
- Fuchsia Flash
- Legacy Green
- Dynamic Yellow
- Cone Orange
The patterns within the shapes conjure up the old brick and cobblestone roads seen throughout the city and merge the idea of Boston's existing legacy with that of what the club is striving to build.
The kit’s name is a nod to the communities that come together to support the team and how soccer is a global sport that unites people from all walks of life. “Common Ground” is also a reference to the iconic Boston Common, America’s oldest public park and one of the city’s most notable sites.
“This kit celebrates the neighborhoods that make Boston — each with its own story and pride. Together, they form the collective heartbeat of this city, and that unity is woven into every detail of this design,” said Jennifer Epstein, Controlling Owner of Boston Legacy FC. “As we begin our inaugural season, it’s important that our club reflects the city it represents. When our players wear the Common Ground kit, they’re representing more than a club; they’re representing the communities that show up and support them. As a longtime resident of Boston, it’s incredibly meaningful to stand alongside our players and fans, wearing this kit and celebrating the city we call home.”
The Legacy highlighted local spots and outfitted different Boston residents as part of its jersey campaign, choosing leaders and advocates involved in the community and the city's sports scene. Allston/Brighton native Shantell Jeter, pictured below, was photographed at Rock City Pizza. She is the founder of You Got it Girl, a program dedicated to empowering young girls through sports and wellness.

In designing the jersey, Nike developed a repeated tile print as a way to reduce waste and use fabric more efficiently. This will cause the neighborhood placements to be slightly different on every retail jersey, making each one unique.
The new threads feature the team’s sponsors: TJ Maxx on the front, Hyundai on the right sleeve, and Voya on the back. The bottom of the shirt also has the same bear and soccer ball emblem that pays homage to Franklin Park, as seen on the first kit.
“Boston fans care deeply about their city and their teams, and I’m excited to build a new legacy with them,” said Head Coach Filipa Patão. “We are proud to represent Boston, and can’t wait to show this city what we are made of.”
Boston Legacy will host a kit reveal event at Cyclorama at Boston Center for the Arts to celebrate the launch on Thursday night. Fans will be able to buy and personalize both jerseys and participate in immersive photo moments and giveaways.
The Common Ground kit is available online at bostonlegacyfc.com and nwslshop.com, as well as in stores at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sports Endeavors, We Got Soccer, Nike, and Foudys UK.
