Andrew Farrell has played in an MLS game in 2025. For me, that was the highlight from Saturday’s loss to the Philadelphia Union along the banks of the Delaware River.
The 1-0 loss officially saw New England eliminated from the playoffs, a finality long in the making. At this point I don’t know how much there is to take away from the games.
It was interesting to see Ilay Feingold as one of three central defenders instead of their natural right back position. I am not sure why interim coach Pablo Moreira did not opt to play Brandon Bye as one of the center backs and keep Feingold out wide, but that is the decision that was made. Feingold did ok, but I much prefer him in his usual spot.
The Revs continued to suffer the striker injury bug and were without both Leo Campana and Ignatius Ganago. Regardless of who ends up being the coach next season, New England will be sunk if they cannot get health and consistency from their front men.
It was nice to see the Revs play a little bit freer than in previous games. They kept it close during the first half and, all things considered, a 1-0 loss to the top team in the East is nothing to scoff at. Obviously, we are a long way away from our glory days in Philly back in 2020 and 2021. Thinking of you Tajon Buchanan and your immaculate back flip.
It was somewhat comical that Peyton Miller’s final contribution in a Revolution shirt this season could be a red card. It was a controversial call, one that I didn’t agree with. Off to join the U-20 world cup squad, it is likely Miller will not see the field for the Revs again this season. We will have to see if the rumored European interest in Miller comes to fruition this winter, or if he will remain a Revolution player heading into 2026.
My favorite thing about Saturday afternoon, as I began, is that Andrew Farrell returned to action. The Revs all-time leader in minutes was subbed into the game in the second half and almost had an assist to Tómas Chancalay. Not too shabby for someone that has not played in a MLS game for over a calendar year.
Am I happy about this season? Absolutely not. Hell no. I am the opposite of fine.
The only thing the Revolution can do that would bring me some modicum of joy, would be for Andrew Farrell to play at Gillette Stadium.
Is this Farrell’s last year as a player? I don’t know. If it is, he needs to play one last time in front of the Foxboro Faithful. He deserves that for everything he has done for the club and New England community.
The fans deserve the chance to show him the love, respect, and admiration he has earned during his time here. If he returns for another season? Great. We can root for him again next year.
If he doesn’t come back and this season is the end? He deserves a hero’s sendoff as a true legend of this club. Farrell embodies everything positive about what it means to be a Rev. There is only one, and there will only ever be one, Andrew Farrell.

Absolutely spot on! Bring back Farrell! Face it, he's still smarter than most of those people on the pitch.
I completely agree. If this is Andrew's last season as a player, he deserves a start at the Razor before the 2025 campaign is done and dusted.
