USMNT: Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinal Roster Revealed
Matt Turner will face new competition in net
Former New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner will face some new competition in net as Mauricio Pochettino has named a 25-man roster for the U.S. Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals. The United States will face Jamaica on November 14 in Kingston before returning stateside to play the Reggae Boyz in St. Louis.
Poch named four goalkeepers to the roster with Diego Kochen joining the likes of Zack Steffen, Patrick Schulte, and Turner. This is Kochen’s first call-up to the USMNT and the 18-year-old goalkeeper plays club soccer for Barcelona’s B team.
Elsewhere throughout the roster, Tyler Adams was excluded as he continues to gain fitness after recovering from back surgery. Gio Reyna and Folarin Balogun also missed out on call-ups due to injury.
In Adams’ absence, Johnny Cardoso earned his first call-up with Pochettino at the helm while Aidan Morris also will make up the midfield. Up front, Tim Weah returned to the USMNT fold and is joined by Cade Cowell, Brandon Vazquez, and Alex Zendejas who represent the U.S. star power in Liga MX.
