This is really interesting and likely a good thing. I wonder how many current owners of USL teams have primary owners with the $40 million net worth required by US soccer for D1 teams?
We will know if US Soccer is truly committed to an open and fair system if they leave the D1 requirements at their current levels. If they suddenly start raising the requirements to owners with a $100 million net worth that will speak volumes about the the backroom agreements between MLS and US Soccer.
This would be a huge deal, wonder how they’ll get there from the professional standards perspective
