Pro Wrestler Shouts Out Maxi Urruti
The Milan Miracle bonded over the striker's snake celebration
Wrestling and soccer having a lot in common. There are lots of kicks, the occasional dive, and also lots of screaming at the officials.
But there is also the fact that both sets of athletes also have signature moves. For wrestlers it might be their finisher or how they enter the ring and for soccer players it tends to be how they celebrate a goal or the lesser known unique running style.
On Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium collided when after scoring the first goal of 2025 for the Revolution, Maxi Urruti and Carles Gil celebrated with a snake celebration. The veteran striker has been doing the celebration along with his arrow celebration for some time but it is the first time it has graced the Gilette Stadium pitch in the regular season.
Eagle-eyed viewers who watched WWE in the early to mid 2000s noticed a similar style to pro wrestler Santino Marella’s cobra finisher. After being made aware of the celebration by a fan, Marella gave his stamp of approval.
The Revolution will be looking to score more goals and win more games after a rough start to the season. Hopefully they manage to do so and don’t pull a heel turn and return to poor form like that coward John Chena.
kayfabe for the win!
