Revolution Buyout Tomas Vaclik
The Czech GK leaves Foxboro without ever appearing
The New England Revolution announced they have parted ways with Tomas Vaclik.
The move officially ends Vaclikâs confusing and disappointing tenure with the team, in which he never appeared for the Revs in a match. It has also been expected for a long time, with Tom Quinlan of WPRO reporting back in October Vaclik would not return.
The team signed Vaclik in August 2023 to an 18-month contract with the hopes he could follow in the footsteps of Matt Turner and Djordje Petrovic, who had moved onto the Premier League. However, rumors of Vaclikâs fitness circulated and the keeper never saw the field in 2023, as the Revolution opted to play Earl Edwards Jr. and Jacob Jackson down the stretch.
Following the season, Vaclik stated his time with the Revs was a âstrange experienceâ and detailed issues with goalkeeper coach Kevin Hitchcock, who was confirmed as a member of the Revolutionâs staff for the 2024 season earlier this week.
The team now has three goalkeepers on the roster, with Edwards Jr. and Jackson returning the club and Henrich Ravas joining the team as the expected starter.
Only took 9 days to burn this year's one buyout that doesn't go against the cap.
Fail.
