Lionel Messi Arrives In Boston Ahead Of Game Against New England Revolution
Lionel Messi made the trip to Boston.
Lionel Messi arrived in Boston on Tuesday ahead of Inter Miami CF’s Wednesday night game against the New England Revolution.
There were questions about whether Messi would attend the game at Gillette Stadium, as it is sandwiched between a road trip to Montreal and a home game against Nashville SC.
Messi did play against CF Montreal, recording two goals and one assist in a 90-minute performance. Three days later, he is coming to Foxborough.
“For me, he’s the best in the history,” Leo Campana said. “It was a dream come true playing with him, being his teammate.”
Messi’s talent is undeniable, something that the Revs saw firsthand last year.
The Argentine had two goals and one assist in his first appearance at Gillette Stadium. He then had a hat trick and an assist in 32 minutes in the season finale against the Revs in Florida.
Miami has plenty of other talent on the roster, including Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez. This makes them a handful to play against.
“You’ve got to find the moments to control the game on both sides of the ball, and you’ve got to understand the reality,” head coach Caleb Porter said. “I think when you look at Miami, you’ve got to understand the reality of what’s going to happen. You can’t be naive. You have to be pragmatic and you’ve got to be smart with how you approach them.”
With a large crowd expected, the Revs are excited to feel the energy and hopefully put on a show.
“You enter the stadium and you feel the impact because of how many fans we can get in our stadium,” Leo Campana said. “Hopefully, we can score a lot of goals to see all of our fans happy and enjoying the game.”
